How our trips work

The questions everyone asks before they book

Solo or with a group, guided or on your own, lodge or tent. Here is how we handle the parts of travel that people worry about most.

  • Traveling solo, together

Many of our travelers set out on their own and join a small group of like-minded people on the road. You get the independence of solo travel with company at dinner, a shared sunrise, and someone to take your photo at the top. Solo rooms are available on most trips, and we are happy to match you with a roommate to keep costs down.

  • Where you will sleep

Family-run inns and small hotels on the Camino and in Japan. Park lodges and cabins in the national parks. Safari camps, estancias, mountain refugios, and the occasional hot spring ryokan. We book every night in advance and tell you exactly what each place is like before you commit.

  • Your bags move without you

On the Camino, the Via Francigena, the Kumano Kodo, and most European walks, your luggage is driven from one night's stop to the next. You walk with a day pack. On treks where porters or pack animals are the norm, we arrange those too. You decide how much you want to carry, and it is usually very little.

  • Guided or self-guided

Some trips come with a licensed local guide: safaris, Himalayan treks, the Inca Trail, the Holy Land. Others, like the Camino, are better self-guided with detailed route notes and a phone number that answers. We will tell you which is right for the trip you have in mind, and you can always add a guide for a day or the whole way.

  • Groups, families, and churches

We plan private trips for families, friends, and congregations, and we can host open small-group departures on request. Tell us your dates and head count. Group sizes vary by trip, and we will let you know what is needed to make yours work. We handle sign-ups, deposits, and the questions your travelers will ask, and we create customized brochures and posters to help you share the trip with your congregation or group.

  • The rest of the logistics

Trains, transfers, internal flights, park permits, timed-entry reservations, trekking permits, and travel insurance guidance. A packing list for the climate you are going to. A day-by-day plan with the early starts and rest days built in. You get one point of contact from first email to touchdown.

Pastors and group leaders

Leading a church or group? Let us carry the clipboard.

Most of our faith journeys, and many of our Caminos and hikes, are built for a specific group. Plan 9 to 12 months ahead and we will do the rest.

  1. 01

    Tell us your vision

Where you want to go, roughly when, and how many people you expect. A short note is enough to start.

  2. 02

    We build the trip

You get a proposed itinerary, per-person pricing, and materials you can share with your congregation or group.

  3. 03

You lead, we handle the details

From sign-ups to the flight home, we manage the bookings and logistics so you can focus on your people.

What travelers say

From the trail

  • “I wanted to walk the Camino for twenty years and kept putting it off because of the planning. Bent Arrow handled everything. All I had to do was walk.”

Margaret H.Camino Francés, Sarria to Santiago
  • “Reading John 21 on the shore of Galilee with my congregation is something none of us will forget. The logistics were flawless and I got to be a pastor instead of a tour manager.”

    Pastor David R.Israel and Jordan
  • “An itinerary from people who actually knew the Tetons, and trails I never would have found on my own. We saw a moose on day one. Already planning Glacier for next summer.”
